Initiative E-Commerce — the initiative for digital commerce in the BVDW
About the Initiative
E-commerce is now a central component of modern retail, enabling companies to offer their products and services worldwide. In our E-Commerce initiative, we address the current changes and challenges in this area. Our focus is on digital business models, data strategies, and full-funnel marketing. Our goal is to support and shape the future of retail along the entire (digital and data-based) customer journey.
Mission
Our mission with this initiative is to provide a platform for the various market participants in e-commerce where they can exchange ideas on various topics in this field and develop projects. To this end, we would like to reflect the diversity of the e-commerce ecosystem with appropriate representation among our members.
Vision
Labs
Our Lab AI Commerce is the strategic driving force that translates technological developments into future-proof business models and action-oriented recommendations – based on a sound theoretical framework. As part of the BVDW, we empower the industry to actively shape the rules of the game for an intelligent commerce era – one that combines innovation with transparency, competition, and consumer sovereignty without ignoring their conflicting goals. We accompany the industry as it navigates different stages of maturity – from selective AI optimization of existing online shops and marketplaces to fully autonomous shopping agents that coexist in parallel.
